My first three ideas for a film opening were all pyscholigical thrillers, as this is one my favourite genres and will hopefully be original and different to other peoples work, whilst not straying to far from it.
Idea #1 - Was about an obsessive stalker turned killer. He idolises someone, but when rejected and dismissed by them, he effectively has a breakdown and destroys everything around that person. (or a different idea could be he tries to ultimately become them, and steal their identity as a person).
Idea #2 - Was about a person suffering from either multiperson syndrome or schizophrenia (further research would be needed), except the twist is they are unaware of it. They see everything around them falling apart, and eventually they figure out it is all because of himself.
Idea #3 - Surrounded the theme of choices. It would effectively have two running narratives of the same person, in two alternate universes based on one life changing choice they make. In the end, they both end in a similar way, introducing the concept of fate and destiny.
PITCH
The idea I pitched was Idea #2 because I thought this would be the most achievable to a high level compared to the others. Also as we are only filming the first two minutes of the film, I felt that the other films have probably too complicated a concept to be portrayed in an opening.
I feel this film could work with the cinematography of Hitchcock, but also with an influence of Stanley Kubrick's film, especially "A Clockwork Orange". The opening could be some sort of hallucination, as to instantly express his condition. The film would be more disturbing rather than horrific, and intend to make the audience think, so also Darren Aronofsky's "Requiem For A Dream" could be studied in order to add the realism to the film.
